Firm Foundations of Truth
I believe the Lord is calling us back to some of the basics of our relationships with Him. He wants to strengthen us and give us additional training in some specific areas so we can not only be more fruitful for Him, but so we can produce fruit that remains. I truly believe now is a time when He is revealing ways in which our lives will bear fruit that will outlast us and affect those who are coming up in the ranks behind us. To bear fruit that remains, we must be firmly established in what I call “five grids of truth.” If we will deepen our roots in these areas and not neglect them as we grow in the Lord, we will be well-positioned to live each day of our lives being more and more productive and effective for Him and helping those of the next generation.
What Is a Grid of Truth?
All of us have “filters” through which we live our lives and filter what we see, hear, sense, or experience. These filters are the mental “wiring,” the perspectives and the belief systems that cause us to process and respond to life as we do. Some people have a “filter” of fear, which means they are easily frightened and have a tendency to see something frightening or intimidating about most situations. Some people have a filter of anger and offense, which causes them to be easily angered and to think people are opposing or accusing them when that is not the case at all. You can have a filter of perfection so that you never have peace because things are really never perfect. Other people have positive filters, which means they view everything from an optimistic, hopeful perspective. The filters you have affect the way you live life and relate to God, yourself and other people.
A grid of truth is simply a mental filter—a belief or perspective—that aligns with and is based on God’s Word. When grids of truth from the Word of God establish our thinking, we process the things that happen to us and around us in godly, biblical ways that align with God’s perspective. This is how we walk “with God,” in agreement with Him. After all, the Bible asks: “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” (Amos 3:3).
Five Grids
I believe there are five foundational grids of truth that must be established in our minds if we want to be strong, vibrant, effective, discerning believers in the days in which we live. Each of these grids is based on a revelation that is foundational for a life that will bear fruit.
The Revelation of the Love of the Father: Know that God loves you unconditionally and has accepted you completely.
The Revelation of True Identity: Remember, you are not who the world says you are, nor are you defined merely by what you do; your true identity is based on who God says you are.
The Revelation of Spiritual Authority: Whether you acknowledge it or not, a spiritual war is raging, but you must know you have authority over the enemy—and you must enforce it.
The Revelation of Spiritual Weapons: The spiritual war is “not against flesh and blood,” so you need revelation of the spiritual weapons God has made available to you.
The Revelation Kingdom of God: Prioritize God’s Kingdom over everything else; seek His Kingdom first and everything else will fall into place.
All these revelations will continue to unfold and deepen in your life as you continue to walk with the Lord. You will never arrive at perfect understanding of them, but continuing to seek greater revelation of each grid of truth will strengthen and establish you in each new season of God’s plans for your life. This will help build a life of bearing fruit that remains.
One of the five grids of truth is the revelation of true identity. More teaching on this subject is available on Mary’s CD
